the imagination...

my husband is a wonderful man. he is begging to read to me. he bought the next book i wanted to dive into, and has offered to plunge in with me, allowing my eyes to rest and imagination explode as he brings it to life for me. i think of the wonderful times when books have been read to me. one of my fav's was my student teacher in 4th grade... opening my mind to the glorious pages of james and the giant peach... what a treat to sit and take it all in after lunch.. laying my head on the desk, letting my mind go wild as images came alive in my thoughts... characters took form and walked through my brain.. i welcomed their presence each afternoon during this journey floating in a big peach.. so it wasn't technically possible... small boys didn't really fly around with giant grasshoppers and so on... but oh - that was the great thing about book time... all the boundaries seemed to disappear ... all becomes possible... ahhhh... what freedom in the fun of it!

i am taking up the offer of my husband the wonderful man!

Well, while we're speaking of young people's books, I would hope, next time you are at the bookstore, you would look up "Bashful Bob and Doleful Dorinda" by, of all peeps. Margaret Atwood. THIS should def be read to you... if anything for the sheer enjoyment of hearing someone move their way in and out of the exquistie alliterations!
